Welcome to Keon's Coaching Corner
With the summer months here, if you're like me, you're asking yourself a ton of questions: What are my kids doing for the summer? What am I doing for the summer? How do I get my family to spend more time together and enjoy the season? These are questions we all grapple with, because one thing we don't want is our kids sitting in the house for 12 hours, consumed with video games and staring at screens.
Instead, let's focus on finding things to do with your family and staying active. Picture taking a weekend hike with your family, spending time at a lake, or sitting around a campfire under the stars. There are countless summer camps you can sign up for, each offering unique experiences and opportunities for growth.
I feel the most important thing this summer is not just what we are doing, but who we are spending our time with. Often, we forget the specifics of what we did, but we always remember how someone made us feel. As we dive into the excitement of the summer months, let's not forget that we are the company we keep.
As a young kid growing up in St. Louis, MO I always wanted to play some sort of sport. During the summer, you would always catch me at the basketball court, the baseball diamond, or a field playing football with friends. Those friends where the ones who aspired to take sports and school serious and wanted to make it out from our current circumstances at the time. Those moments in life gave me the opportunity to be a kid, dream and have fun with like minded people. We didn't grow up with much, so we made the most of what we had and found joy in what we did.
One of my favorite scriptures is 2 Timothy 1:7: "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline." Share your joy with others this summer and make it count because, its a blessing to be a blessing.
P.S. Summer training starts Monday
Sincerely, Coach Keon
