QUARTERBACKS COACH
CHRIS MERCHANT
Chris started playing football at 8 years old and has loved the sport ever since. He played 2 years of high school in Calgary for Western Canada High School and then transferred to St. Andrew’s College in Ontario, to finish. From there he earned a full scholarship to the University at Buffalo (FBS D1-A), where he spent 2 years before transferring to Western University, due to a coaching staff change.
After earning the starting spot in his first season at Western, he went on to finish with a 39-3 career record as a starter. During his time there, he won 2 Yates Cups, a Mitchell Bowl, a Uteck Bowl, and a Vanier cup - he was named MVP in 4 out of 5 of those bowl game wins. To cap it all off, in his final year he was awarded the Hec Crighton Trophy, as the MVP of USports football.
After university Chris was signed by the Montreal Alouettes, who released him after training camp in order to return to school and use his last year of eligibility while finishing his degree in Kinesiology.
